The term "boucherouite" comes from the Arabic ("bu sherwit") and means something like "a piece of old clothes". The name says it all: In the 1960s and 1970s, Moroccan nomads began - initially out of necessity - to recycle every form of available textile into carpets. Like the production of other Berber carpets, the Boucherouite carpets are made exclusively by women, whereby they follow almost no rules - neither in terms of material nor in terms of pattern. Essentially, the Boucherouite rug is a patchwork quilt: scraps and strips of older textiles, wool and gathered fibers are woven together to create something entirely new. A distinctive feature of these rugs is their vibrant, bright colors and the fact that no two are remotely alike.
A boucherouite is more a work of art than a rug and thanks to its complexity and multi-layered nature you will never tire of looking at it: it stands on its own and is an unrivaled eye-catcher in any environment - whether in the bedroom, living room, children's room or study.
Connoisseurs know: A high-quality, well-preserved vintage carpet is a sustainable investment because it increases in value over the years. Its age, origin and the fact that it is made by hand make it unique and set it apart from an industrially manufactured product as an original.

Morocco at heart.
Soft hills, warmth of the sun, silence, in the distance you can hear the sheep, on the hills the carpets are spread out to dry, colored surfaces in the otherwise so calm landscape. This image presents itself to the viewer when visiting the carpet regions of Morocco.

Each piece is unique
Each of our carpets, be it made to measure or a one-off, is made by hand in Morocco. Each piece is unique. Great designers such as Le Corbusier, Charles and Ray Eames or Alvar Aalto have already appreciated the simplicity and coziness of the hand-knotted masterpieces and have used them in their projects and living spaces. There is not only a lot of wool in one square meter of carpet, but also a lot of skill, time and dedication of the weavers from the Atlas Mountains. After the knotting process, the rugs are combed clean, washed and sheared several times before they are ready for the living room. In every carpet that we are allowed to deliver to our customers there is a piece of Morocco with its very own history
