The tribes of Morocco

Zemmur, Rehamna, Geruan, Zayan or Ait Yussi: Our carefully curated My Beni vintage rugs come from the traditional Tamazigh tribes of Morocco and are sometimes named after them. Tamazigh have long lived as nomads in the mountains of Morocco. Gradually, however, the tribes settled down. With the change in lifestyle and society, the carpets produced have also changed over the years, but they have always remained an important part of the tradition and culture of the nomads. Each tribe has its own techniques and symbols, which come into their own in the elaborately crafted individual pieces.

Vintage as a break in style

A vintage carpet is a real all-rounder - it can be staged harmoniously with cement floors, parquet, high-gloss furniture and design pieces as well as with old wooden floorboards, family heirlooms and retro furniture. The idea of vintage as a break in style is particularly popular, the implementation of which lies in the combination of calm, subtle purism with catchy, complex statement pieces that tell their own personal story. The attractive thing about it: It is a heterogeneous and yet so harmonious interplay of old and new, history and modernity. Selected vintage carpets not only bring homeliness and comfort to a reduced, functional ensemble, but also ensure a balanced overall picture as deliberately placed accents. Clear structures, graphic forms, muted colors and smooth surfaces such as steel, glass and concrete can be wonderfully contrasted by the irregular texture of the carpet, its hand-knotted patterns and bright colors. Calm vs. restlessness - a tension that also affects our everyday life: the more complex the world, the greater our desire for simplicity and vice versa.
